The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that they have dealt overage forward Steven Janes to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for a 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2017 and an 8th Round Draft Pick in 2015.
Janes, an Etobicoke native was acquired by the Attack last January at the trade deadline from the Ottawa 67’s. In 26 regular season games with the Attack, the 6’4 forward tallied 6 goals and 3 assists and added another 2 assists in 10 playoff games. Janes was a 2nd Round Draft choice of the Ottawa 67’s in 2009.
“We wish Steven and his family all the best in Windsor.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “We knew coming into this season we were going to have to cut down on our overage numbers and we are happy we were able to find Steven a spot to resume his OHL Career in Windsor.”
The departure of Janes means the Attack have four potential overage players on their roster, including defenseman Brayden Rose and forwards Kurtis Gabriel, Kyle Hope and Cameron Brace. Goaltender Jordan Binnington, defenseman Cody Ceci and forward Daniel Catenacci are not expected to return to the Ontario Hockey League at this time, however; would still qualify for an overage spot if returned.
Rookie Camp for Attack prospects begins Monday while Training Camp begins on Wednesday at the Bayshore.
