Attack Down Kingston 7-0Jan 12, 2013 - 22:25 GMT
The Attack took to the ice with two new additions on Saturday night in hopes of stopping their five game losing streak…and they did just that, in a big way!
Daniel Milne and Artur Gavrus were making the season debuts tonight while Steven Janes was making his home debut after being acquired earlier in the week from the Ottawa 67’s.
Prior to the game, the Attack honoured Jordan Binnington, Artur Gavrus and Jaden Lindo for their participation in international play.
The Attack came out with fire and jump in this one, taking it to the Frontenacs from the opening faceoff. With the Attack shorthanded, Cameron Brace grabbed a loose puck and broke in on Mike Morrison, firing a backhand blocker side. Just over four minutes later, Stefano Pezzetta pounded on a loose puck in the Fronts’ crease and buried his 1st OHL goal, making it 2-0 Attack! The Attack could have laid back, but they kept at it and with under a minute left, Zach Nastasiuk fed a streaking Kyle Hope and he buried his 10th of the season.
The second period was much the same as the first, with one less goal. While on the powerplay, Nastasiuk deposited a goal mouth feed from Catenacci for his 10th of the season to give the Attack a 4-0 lead. Despite the Attack’s offensive outburst, Jordan Binnington was still called upon to make several big saves!
Just under seven minutes after the Nastasiuk goal, Kyle Hope emerged from behind the net, burying his second of the game for the Attack, good for a 5-0 lead going into the third period.
The Attack continued to pour it on in the third, with singles coming from Stefano Pezzetta and Zach Nastasiuk. Each goal was the second of the game for each player!
7-0 would be the way it would end on this night, with the Attack breaking their skid in dominant fashion.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Jordan Binnington – 4th Shutout of the Season and 7th Career
2) Stefano Pezzetta – First TWO Career OHL Goals
1) Kyle Hope 2G, 1A
