Attack Gunning for Fourth

The Attack head into action this weekend gunning for 4th place in the Western Conference

The Owen Sound Attack has secured a playoff spot, but who they will face in the first round is still very much up in air. The Attack could potentially end the regular season in 4th, 5th or 6th, meaning they could find themselves up against either Sarnia, Saginaw and Kitchener in the first round of the playoffs.

The Attack are jockeying for position, 2 points back of Sarnia for 4th and 1 point ahead of the Saginaw Spirit for 5th. All three teams will play their final two games on Friday and Saturday to close out the season.

Sarnia has two games remaining against London and Plymouth. Saginaw will see action against Windsor and Kitchener while the Attack will have a home and home with the Storm. A 4th or 5th place finish for the Attack would mean they would play either Sarnia or Saginaw, while a 6th place finish would guarantee them a first round date against the Kitchener Rangers.

There is no word from the Ontario Hockey League offices on the future of Attack Captain Michael Halmo. Halmo was suspended indefinitely by the league office after being told that he was eligible to play on Sunday afternoon in Plymouth. Halmo and Attack personnel will be participating in a conference call with the League Office on Thursday afternoon, however; there has been no timeline set for an official announcement.

The Attack will close out their 2011/2012 Regular Season on Saturday evening when McNain Communications presents the Attack vs. Storm. McNain Communications is your local authorized Rogers Dealer.

Fans are also reminded of the St. Patrick’s Day Dance with the Geoff Stevens band immediately following Saturday’s game against the Storm. Tickets are still available at the Attack Box Office for just $10.00, $5.00 of which will go directly to Colo-Rectal Cancer Research. Game time Saturday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is 7:30pm.
