The next big NHL event following the Draft Lottery in two weeks is the NHL Combine held in Toronto from May 28 through June 2 and Attack forwards Gemel Smith, Artur Gavrus and Jarrod Maidens are expected to be there. There is no official word on Maidens timeline for a return, although; it has been noted that he is steadily improving.
All players in attendance are considered top prospects for this June's NHL Entry Draft and will be put through vigorous workouts by the staff at York University. The fitness testing will be carried out on June 1-2 while player interviews will be conducted in the days prior.
Meanwhile, the scouts have ranked the top 180 skaters so far, and are well into Round 5 projections. It is a slow and arduous process but that's done purposely so that no one is missed or to make certain players are not in a position they shouldn't be.
The Attack wish Artur, Jarrod and Gemel the best of luck at the NHL Combine.
