Pink in the Rink Goes Saturday!Feb 02, 2013 - 03:02 EST
The Canadian Cancer Society and the Owen Sound Attack are teaming up to host “Pink in the Rink” happening on February 2nd. The night will be full of pink while raising money for life saving breast cancer research and programs and services with the society. The Attack will be wearing brand new Bright Pink Jersey’s to honor loved ones who could not be here with us and in celebration of those who are as they take on the London Knights.
It’s an event you won’t want to miss and the next few weeks are full of excitement as The Canadian Cancer Society prepares to turn the arena PINK in the effort to promote the event and the cause behind it. The 2012 event raised over $36,000 for breast cancer and the hopes is to meet that on February 2nd.
It is estimated that 23,600 new cases of breast cancer in women will be diagnosed in Canada in 2012. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. The Society is hoping this event will urge women to be tested and to follow proper screening guidelines as well as to fundraise for dollars that are much needed to fund research and support local patients who use the services and programs of the Society.
