It was a wild one at the Bayshore on Saturday night as the Sudbury Wolves came to town.
The first period started and ended with a flurry of action….which was pretty well the story of the entire game.
Nathan Pancel opened the scoring for the Sudbury Wolves under one minute into the game on the powerplay. The game would stay that way until there was just under five minutes left in the period when Gemel Smith potted his 6th goal of the season and with just two seconds left on the clock, Smith struck again with his 7th to get the Attack into the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.
Zach Nastasiuk would send the Attack ahead 3-1 with his first of the season, but the Wolves would pounce back with three straight goals to end the period off the sticks of Pancel, Huether and Baptiste.
Down 4-3, the Bears would show their teeth and pound in three goals in less than ten minutes. Zach Nastasiuk struck first with his 2nd of the game to tie the game and Gemel Smith buried the Hatten Hat Trick goal to give the Attack the lead. Just minutes later, Ethan Szypula would score his first Ontario Hockey League goal to give the Attack a two goal lead. Kurtis Gabriel’s assist on the Szypula goal was his third of the night.
On the Baywest Nissan Powerplay and with less than five minutes left, most would think this game was wrapped up but shorthanded, Jacob Harris would pull the Wolves within one. In the dying minute, Brandon Hope would make severable remarkable saves, however; one would slip by with just five seconds left to send the game into OT.
In OT, the Attack would head to a powerplay and who else, but Gemel Smith would score the game winner?? Smith pounced on the Nastasiuk shot and solidified the win for the Attack!
The Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Nathan Pancel (2g,1a)
2) Zach Nastasiuk (2g, 1a)
1) Gemel Smith (4g)
