ATTACK EARN 4 POINTS ON THE ROAD
10/17/2009   7:00:00 PM

Erie Otters big line of Zack Torquato, Anthony Luciani and Andrew Yogan tallied 10 points among them Saturday night in Erie as the Erie Otters defeated our Owen Sound Attack 5-4 in an overtime shootout.

What a wild road trip for our Attack.  Three games in three nights with none decided in regulation time.  Our Attack come home with 4 of an available 6 points.

Attack rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington got his first OHL start facing 31 shots and 5 shootout shooters.  Joey Hishon was back in the Attack lineup after suffering a foot injury in St. Catherines Thursday night.  Joey tallied an assist, but did not finish the game.  Helped off the ice by a linesman, it looks as if his sore foot was bothering him again.

Keevin Cutting’s 1st goal of the season late in the first period, got our Attack on the scoresheet after trailing 2-0.

The Otter’s Luciani scored his 2nd goal of the game and 11th on the season at 6:34.  A power play goal and the only special team goal of the game giving his Otters a 3-1 second period lead.

Our Attack have been starting to turn the corner of late.  Really coming together as a team and able to overcome adversity.  Behind 3-1, the boys got fired up by Bobby Mignardi’s 11th goal of the season at 12:42 of the second.  Down 3-2 after the second, they would come out on a tear for the third period.

Steven Shipley with his 6th of the season and Marcus Carroll with his 6th gave the Attack a 4-3 lead by the 9:55 mark.  Unfortunately as the game was winding down, Otter star forward Anthony Luciani was able to net his 12th at 16:45 forcing overtime and then a shootout.

Each team used 5 shooters to decide the game.  Garrett Wilson scored for our Attack.  Greg McKegg and Shawn Szydlowski for the Otters.

Final score Erie 5 – Owen Sound 4 SO.  Owen Sound outshot Erie 34-32.

The 3 Stars of the Game were:

1st Star – Anthony Lucianni with 3 goals and an assist.

2nd Star- Zack Torquato with a goal and an assist.

3rd Star – Ramis Sadikov with 30 saves and a shootout win.
