ATTACK RACE PAST COLTS
11/2/2005

Our Owen Sound Attack defeated the visiting Barrie Colts with a fine effort at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre Wednesday night. Trailing 3-2 after one period of play, Owen Sound dominated the rest of the way on route to a 8-5 victory.

With the win, our Attack improve to 8-6-0-1 while the Colts drop to 10-6-0-1.

Barrie wanted this game. A win would have tied them with the Peterborough Petes leading the OHL Eastern Conference. The Attack victory stopped a 4 game losing streak where they argueably should have won the last 3 of those games and gave them a 2-1 regular season series lead versus the Colts after losing the season opener in Barrie.

Not too long ago, the word around the Ontario Hockey League might have been "want to shut down the Owen Sound Attack? Stop that Ryan kid."

Well. Easy said. Very hard to do. Bobby - even though having a Barrie player shadow him when the teams were playing 5 on 5 - had a 4 point night (2-2) scored one of his highlite reel game winning goals at 19:32 of the second period before adding a penalty shot insurance goal at 6:53 of the third to make sure his Attack got the two points. But the 1st Star of the Game was also big factor in taking down the Barrie Colts.

Buffalo Sabres draft pick - defenceman Andrej Sekera - recorded his second consecutive 3 goal game and added 2 assists helping his Attack team to victory. And his teammates missed numerous other opportunities to set him up or tap in a pass for easy goals. "Reg" as they call him, is on fire.

Other Attack goalscorers were rookie Matthew Kang with his 5th of the season, Bob Sanguinetti with his 6th and Mike Angelidis with his 13th.

Our Attack "best players" were our best players.

Hunter Tremblay (3-0), Ryan Hamilton (2-1) and Andrew Marshall (0-3) led the Colts in scoring.

The Kelsey's Neighbourhood Bar and Grill Attack of the Game was Andrej Sekera.

The Krueger Custom Steel Heart of Steel award winner was Theo Peckham.

The 3 Stars of the Game were:
1st Star - Andrej Sekera
2nd Star - Hunter Tremblay
3rd Star - Bobby Ryan

General Manager of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Brian Burke, was in attendance. One would think he was pleased with the play of his 1st round draft pick Bobby Ryan. Many NHL representatives were seen around the rink. Might they be in town to have a look at Bob Sanguinetti and Theo Peckham for two?
