Dale  DeGray - General Manager

DeGray played three seasons for his hometown Oshawa Generals, where his blue collar work ethic allowed him to be drafted 162nd overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1981 NHL entry draft. DeGray went on to play 153 NHL games, scoring 18 goals and tallying 47 assists. In total, the 47-year-old DeGray spent 14 years playing professional hockey and then two as coach/GM with the United Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

DeGray became the General Manager of the Attack in July of 2007. Since becoming the General Manager, Dale DeGray has insisted that all players have a community minded, team first attitude.

In the fall of 2010, DeGray pulled off a blockbuster trade, acquiring Andrew Shaw, Matt Petrgrave, Andrew Fritsch from the Niagara Ice Dogs. At the annual OHL Awards Banquet, DeGray was named the 2011 Ontario Hockey League's Executive of the Year.

Prior to joining the Attack Dale DeGray spent five years as an amateur scout with the Florida Panthers.

Greg Ireland - Head Coach

Greg was named the fifth Head Coach in Owen Sound Attack history on August 2nd, 2011. 

Ireland last served as the Head Coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League where he compiled an 84-75-19 record. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League which saw him tally a 109-65-17 record.

Ian  MacLellan - Assistant GM/Head Scout

Ian's responsibilities include ensuring that all major tournaments are covered by a member of the Attack scouting staff. He is also the head facilitator at all Owen Sound Attack scouting meetings as well as the OHL draft. He has also been named the Assistant Director of Operations for Team Ontario Under 17.
 

 

Terry  Virtue - Associate Coach

Terry joined the Attack in July of 2010 as an Assistant Coach. Virtue comes to the Attack after serving as an Associate Coach for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League for the past three seasons handling the defensive operations and special teams. In 2008/09, “Virch” oversaw three defenseman who collected 30+ points and finished 6th in the league in goals against. Under Virtue, the Tri-City Americans were an impressive +193 as a team and held a +86 goal differential. Prior to coaching, Virtue spent 13 seasons playing in the American Hockey League. Virtue has won more regular season games behind the bench over the last four years than any other coach or assistant coach in the Canadian Hockey League. Virtue's 194 regular season wins is 7 ahead of Windsor Spitfire bench bosses Bob Jones and DJ Smith.

Greg Redquest - Goaltender Coach

"Red Dog" has been with the Attack since the beginning of the 2010/2011 season and has been a welcome addition!

Greg spent his junior days with the Peterborough Petes, Hamilton Fincups and Oshawa Generals and was the first goalie drafted in the 1976 NHL Entry Draft to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Greg brings with him 30 years of coaching experience and currently runs his camps out of Newmarket.

 

 

Andy Brown CAT(c) - Athletic Therapist

Andy joined the Attack in July 2005 as Head Trainer. His experience includes Head Trainer for the Kingston Frontenacs and Assistant Trainer for the Mississauga Ice Dogs. Andy was also the Head Therapist for Team Ontario at the 2006 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, Athletic Therapist for Team Canada at the 2009 World Under 18 Ivan Hlinka Tournament and Trainer for Team Cherry at the 2010 CHL Top Prospects Game . He is a certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association (CATA)

Gary Brennan - Assistant Trainer

Gary joined the Attack in 2009.  His experience came from many years as a trainer with Owen Sound Minor Hockey and several years as head trainer for the Owen Sound Jr B Greys.  Gary has worked at a local sports store repairing sports equipment, sharpening and repairing skates.  He will assist Andy Brown with training and dressing room duties.

Ryan Manley - Statistician

Ryan is responsible for a great deal of the game by game statistical information that helps the coaching staff prepare for games and practices.

 

Fred Wallace - Radio Play-by-Play Announcer

Fred Wallace has been the voice of the team for more than a decade. He announces at the games and does the play-by-play for his own radio broadcast of the away games on CFOS in Owen Sound.

Andrew  Hopf - Strength and Conditioning Coach

Andrew is entering his first season as Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Attack and comes to the organization from the University of Waterloo Mens Hockey Program. While at Waterloo Andrew obtained his Masters of Science degree where he specialized in muscle physiology and also obtained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist distinction from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Andrew has been an elected member of the NSCA executive council for ice hockey and currently owns and operates a business called Next Level Performance Training Inc where he works with many of the elite young athletes in Waterloo Region. Andrew has been an invited speaker for the OHL U16 Program of Excellence and has also spoke at the Canadian and Ontario Exercise Physiology conferences about his muscle physiology research. Andrew will be responsible for designing the teams in season and off season strength and conditioning programs as well as consulting the team on nutrition and recovery strategies to optimize on ice performance.
